William Sewell




















William Sewell Born in London, England on July 2, 1897, his mother was Kate Sewell, his father, so far, unknown. William had three brothers. In 1908, at the the age of nine, following his mother's death, William and his brother Frank were sent with a group of orphans to Canada to work on farms. Sometime around 1916 or 1917 both William and Frank immigrated to the United States and settled in Detroit. Wm married Blanche St. Amour in June of 1920. They had a daughter (1921) and a son (1926) and lived on a farm in St Marys, Ohio for a short time, before returning to Detroit. Early on William went to work for Ford Motor Company and worked his way up to a Purchasing Manager, which he was very proud of all his life. He retired from Fords and moved up to Marine City on the St Clair River where he enjoyed fishing and boating. After Blanche's death in 1968, he married Phyllis and they spent winters in Stockton, CA and summers in Marine City. William and Blanche had 12 grandchildren who were the light of their lives. William was an avid gardener and lover of roses. William loved life and remained quite active until his death at 92 in 1989.
